Numerical Study of Heat Transfer and Speed Air Flow on Performance of an Auto-Ventilated Disc Brake

In the braking system, heat dissipation generated by friction between disc and pad should be evacuated as quickly possible. this work, five common different automotive brakes were studied through mathematical theories of transfer numerical methods using ANSYS software. addition, a direct comparison experimental, theoretical, simulation values found in open literature was performed to propose brake with an improved geometry terms transfer. The results considered two possible solutions geometries N-38 ventilation blades used aeronautic engineering. An improvement temperature achieved approximately 23.8% compared analyzed simple type blade. strongly depends on disc, blades, material from which it is manufactured, pad, weight vehicle, operating conditions, can verified calculations experiments. obtained demonstrate that discs effectively extreme working conditions (80 km/h 33°C), without affecting safety occupants system.
